Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip - Thou Shalt Always Kill
Paris, je t’aime! It was beautiful and magical and full of people carrying baguettes around in a serious way. There was shops full of cheese and wine was the same price as coke. What’s not to love?
It really was awesome. It was a nice escape. The hostel was great, we were in a great area that was rich with cultural history. There was plenty of walking between sights but the sights at the end of them were glorious. Things such as the Place du Concorde, Lourve and the surrounding Jardin des Tuileries, Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower. It really was a wonderful place and the trip was exactly what I wanted, now, forever, when asked, “How did you celebrate your 21st?” I will always be able to talk about the awesome trip to Paris
I much prefer when things go wrong, a robot falling down some stairs is a prime example.
Robots are cool………until you have to start learning the stuff that makes them work.
Tiny Desk Concerts - Adele.
Only just noticed this issue of the NPR Music tiny desk studio concerts, Adele has become a big star of late and I can only say how deserved it is. She’s got a beautiful, soulful voice, a modern day Nina Simone. Enjoy these stripped down versions of Someone Like You, Chasing Pavements, and Rolling In The Deep
Tiny Desk Concerts - K’Naan
Hello tumblr, it’s been a while. There is a series of videos on youtube called Tiny Desk Concerts featuring some great artists including the Avett Brothers, Rodrigo y Gabriela, the Swell Season, Phoenix, The Tallest Man On Earth and many more. They are intimate gigs and I feel gives a real view into what the artists are really like. K’Naan was one of my favourites. Springing to the fore with his song Wavin’ Flag being used extensively over the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. His songs are very heartfelt, with Fatima being a personal favourite with it’s upbeat tone despite the very sober topic.
The Blanks a.k.a. Ted’s Band a.k.a. The Worthless Peons
On radio 1 doing a medley of chart tunes from Katy Perry, Cee Lo Green, Duck Sauce, Taio Cruz and others.
The above photo is of the Samuel Beckett Bridge in the heart of Dublin, it was one of the first things that Jennifer and I saw when we arrived in Dublin and it really en-captures the pride of national identity that the Irish have. It also looks pretty cool. I really enjoyed Dublin it is an impressive city full of history and bars. We took a walking tour on the Saturday which was really good, the tour guide seemed to give off a typical Irish view of the current situation, bitterness and anger at the people that have made the decisions that has lead to Ireland losing it’s financial independence. To say the tour guide was opinionated would be an understatement but none the less it was very interesting. The zoo on the Sunday was amazing. I have been set the task of collecting all the animals that Jennifer now wants, they include Penguins, Orangutans, Squirrel Monkeys and a Giraffe! All in all it was an amazing weekend. So glad I organised it (if you can call what I did organised).
